Basem Hanna is the co-founder and former CEO of TerrAscend Corp., a biopharmaceutical and wellness company in the cannabis space.

Basem led the company from its inception in January 2014 to the successful completion of a $52.5M private placement with JW Asset Management and Canopy Growth Corporation. During his work at TerrAscend, Basem oversaw all aspects of the business including licensing, capital markets, construction and staffing. He resigned his position as CEO in January 2018 but remains on the Board of Directors.

He also has 10 years of experience in real estate where he has held positions with First Capital Realty, The Rose Corporation and Almega Capital (a company he founded). Over his career, Basem has been intimately involved in the acquisition, development and disposition of over $1B in real estate assets throughout North America.

He earned his Honours in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business in 2007.

He is a husband, father, CrossFitter and a friend of mine for years having attended elementary school and reconnecting a few years ago for a couple workout/self care dates where we catch up, do some strength training together, and decompress and de-stress with some sauna, hot tubbing and great conversations.
